Welcome to the Wood County Job and Family  Services  (JFS) website.  Children, adults, families and the elderly can find information on programs and services administered by the JFS which are available to Wood County, Ohio residents.

Included among the services/programs are:

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE (EMPLOYMENT, MEDICAL AND INCOME  PROGRAMS)
These programs, commonly known as  Ohio Works First, SNAP (Food Assistance) and Medicaid, provide cash, food assistance and health care coverage based on State and Federal eligibility criteria.

NOTICE: UPDATE TO SERVICES

Beginning June 15, 2013, J.P. Morgan Electronic Financial Services (EFS) will operate and manage the Ohio electronic benefit transfer (EBT) system that supports the Ohio Direction Card and EPPICard prepaid debit cards.
With this transition, both cash and food assistance recipients will receive new cards.

THERE WILL BE NO EBT TRANSACTIONS ON JUNE 16, 2013 DURING THE SYSTEM OUTAGE FROM 12:00 AM - 10:00 AM.

 

 

SOCIAL  SERVICES
The programs assist families and adults who have emergency needs such as loss of shelter or care repairs necessary to keep employment.  In addition, programs are available to assist the elderly including Homemaker/Home Health Services and Adult Protective Services.   A Child Care program is also available to those citizens meeting income guidelines.

CHILDREN'S  SERVICES
The mission of the Children's Protective Services Unit is to promote the protection and safety of children and their families. Services provided by the Children's Protective Services Unit include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Investigation of Child Abuse / Neglect Reports
  • Family Support
    - Voluntary In-Home Services
    - In-Home Protective Supervision
    - Placement of Children for out-of-home care
  • Foster Family training, assessment and supervision
  • Adoption Services for children and families
  • Birth Parent Counseling
